1. Start with a Healthy Skin Care Regimen
When it comes to skin care, it’s important to use products that deliver results AND contain good-for-you ingredients. I recommend the EVER Skin line, because it’s clinical grade plus it’s developed without ingredients banned from cosmetics use in the EU or US. (That means there are thousands of ingredients EVER refuses to use.) EVER products are also dermatologist tested, hypoallergenic, gluten free AND cruelty free.

2. Add Beauty-Boosting Collagen
Collagen is an amino acid and one of the most abundant proteins in the body. It promotes healthier hair, stronger nails and added joint and bone health. Collagen also helps to promote a more youthful glow and to reduce fine lines and wrinkles by boosting skin elasticity and moisture. Natural collagen production begins to slow as age and that’s where quality supplements can support.
It’s really easy to add collagen to your daily routine. One supplement I love adding to my morning shakes or coffee is Vital Proteins Marine Collagen. (Their grass-fed bovine collagen is excellent too and is more cost-effective. What’s the difference between the two? Marine collagen is more easily absorbed by the body.)

3. Detox Weekly
Carving out time for a detox bath and mask once a week benefits your overall health in so many ways. Detoxing cleanses and nourishes your body and can draw out toxins, help you sleep better and reduce pain.
Here are a few of my favorite DIY bath soak recipes: Epsom salt, (aluminum free) baking powder, and peppermint essential oils, or Epson salt and lavender essential oils.
4. Drink Lots of Water
Did you know that your body is about 75% water and your skin is about 60% water? So, drinking lots of H2O keeps our complexion looking its best and our bodies running optimally. Of course, water is invaluable for your overall health and has many other benefits too. It’s needed for metabolism, nutrient absorption, elimination, and circulation, all of which impact the skin. The right amount of water needed for everyone varies based on a number of things including our age, weight, diet, activity levels and climate. (The Institute of Medicine recommends men drink 13 cups of water per day and women drink 9 cups per day). If you find drinking that much plain water boring, try drinking infused water with your favorite berries or cucumbers and mint.
Consuming clean filtered water daily is also crucial. I highly recommend using a water filtration system that filters out common things found in local drinking water like chlorine and heavy metals – all of these harsh chemicals can wreak havoc on your health and skin. (My favorite brand is by Aquasana.)
Pro Tip: Most of us actually wake up dehydrated, so try to aim for drinking a half or a full glass of water first thing in the morning. BONUS: Drinking hot lemon water first thing benefits your liver and lymphatic system, and stimulates your digestive system. While coffee and tea do contain water, they also contain dehydrating agents, so don’t factor them into your daily water consumption.

5. Enjoy a Balanced Whole Foods Diet with Added Supplements
What you put into your body is just as important as what you put on it. Which is why eating a diet rich in whole foods and colored fruits and vegetables can have a profound effect on your skin and overall health. Superfoods like Spirulina with antioxidants, Omega-3s, probiotics, and vitamins (like zinc, calcium, C and E) are crucial for healthy skin. I love adding this beauty supplement by Om, Organic Mushroom Nutrition to my protein shakes because it helps to promote glowing skin with natural beta glucans and antioxidants. (You can mix it into your coffee, matcha tea or smoothie bowls too!)
6. Catch Plenty of Zs
Whatever you do, DONUT skip getting your beauty rest each night. (And remember to remove all your makeup before crawling into bed!) Sleep is crucial to your overall health, but it also benefits your complexion. Getting at least seven hours of sleep each night gives your body the chance to repair damaged cells. Skin circulation increases during sleep, which eliminates toxins and increases skin integrity.
Pro Tip: Sleep masks do more than make you look cute. They block unwanted light, which leads to more natural melatonin production and a restful night’s sleep.
